The 250CC and 500CC classes are run as a British Championship.

Each classification consists of 8 rounds devised up of a number of heats. Only 4 riders race per heat, so the number of heats depends on the number of riders attending the race day.

Each heat is 4 laps of the speedway course and points are awarded to top 3 riders.

The top 4 riders on race day go into a Final race where they get double points.

The British Championship has 8 rounds throughout the season and the winner is decided by taking the riders scores from their best 7 rounds to produce a league table: British Championship 250CC League Table

On 31st July Leon completed round 5 of the British Youth Championship coming first place putting him at the top of the table clear by 4 points (when you drop the lowest scoring round from all riders).

His next race for the British Youth Championships is on 13th August at Bellevue Speedway (Manchester), this is the first time the speedway championship has been held in the North West and Brysdales will be in full force supporting Leon.

On top of his British Championship he finished 8th in the World Youth Championships, again the youngest in the competition by 3 years.
